The wait for Mira-Bhayander court never ends!!!

The court under construction in Mira-Bhayander city is going on for the last 10 years. The internal work is being done at turtle speed and is yet not completed. This has been causing a delay in starting the court in the city and the date keeps getting postponed.

So on 1st May (also celebrated as Maharashtra Day), Advocates Welfare Association called a meeting of all the lawyers in the city to discuss and gain their consultation and suggestions on this issue. The meeting took place at Golden Nest in Mira Road (East) at the Blue Moon Club.

Deputy Secretary Karni Biswas, Treasurer Dharmendra Patel, Deputy Treasurer Court Dilip Jain, Virendra Chaurasia, Abhimanyu Yadav, Mahendra Chaubey, Anupama Vora, Hari Priya Singh, Harsh Sharma, etc and other city advocates were present there. Note that Mira-Bhayander court is almost complete and ready. Yet there is a delay in the inaugural launch of the court. For this reason, Advocate Welfare Association called for a meeting to discuss and make sure that the court starts as soon as possible.

The inaugural date for the court is on hold due to administrative problems. The RCC of building has been completed. Interior furniture work is pending. Even after 10 years, in 2023 the court has not started. Last time, we went on a strike, and thereafter the court work began again. Today through the Association, the Advocate Protection Bill has been unanimously passed and is being sent to the government.

- Advocate, H.R. Sharma (Chairman, Advocate Welfare Association)

Necessary facilities should be there

Addressing the meeting, the President of the organization, H.R. Sharma said that going to Thane, not just the lawyers – but the citizens here find it a difficult task. The Junior Court Division Magistrate (JMFC) that should be starting soon will be for civil and criminal cases. Civil case hearing below 5 lakhs will be done and in criminal cases IPC 323, 324 and cheque bounce cases will be heard as well. Property cases that exceed 5 lahks 50 thousand rupees will be transferred to the Upper Court (Thane).

Problems for lawyers will increase

■ Once the Junior Division Magistrate Court at Mira Bhayander is functional, the problem of lawyers will increase since for some cases so they’ll need to visit Bhayandar Court and Thane Court for some cases.

■ The construction of an independent court for Mira Bhayandar city began in the year 2013. Currently, the 3-storey building of the court is ready, in which there is 6 charity of justice rooms, a computer room and other facilities will be available.
