Chandrayaan-3 prepares for its final shot toward the Moon
Chandrayaan-3 is set to enter the fifth and final Earth-bound orbit-raising maneuver. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) confirmed that the spacecraft will position itself for lunar insertion following this crucial maneuver. India's ambitious lunar mission enters the final phase as it heads towards the Moon.
Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14, and gradually is boosting its orbit around Earth, preparing for its final shot toward the moon. The Moon's gravity will eventually pull Chandrayaan-3 into lunar orbit, and set the stage for the next phase of this historic mission. Chandrayaan-3 will complete 5-6 circles of the Moon by the first week of August, and will enter the innermost circle. Then it will take another ten days to locate the exact spot where it has to land on the Moon.
This lunar mission goes beyond landing on the Moon. It intends to carry out scientific experiments to study the lunar environment, including its history, geology, and potential for resources. The Chandrayaan-3 mission signifies a momentous step toward ISRO’s future interplanetary missions. It is indeed a proud feeling as India moves ahead in its journey to discover the Moon’s secrets.
Chandrayaan-3, the third lunar exploration mission by ISRO, made history with its successful launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, India. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Atomic Energy and Space, stated that the Chandrayaan missions have positioned India as a global leader in space technology, with findings that surpass those of other countries that have explored the Moon. The mission aimed at a soft landing on the unexplored South Pole marks another significant milestone in India's space exploration endeavors.
