Messi plays his last game for Paris St-Germain against Clermont
Paris Saint-Germain Club head coach Christophe Galtier confirmed Lionel Messi's departure from the club as the footballer played his last match for PSG against Clermont. In the summer of 2021, Messi as a free agent received a grand welcome in Paris and witnessed thousands of PSG supporters in front of the Parc des Princes to greet one of the greatest footballers of all time. Messi’s rapport with PSG supporters took a bad hit after PSG was knocked out in the 16th round of the French Cup and Champions League this year.
Our Argentina star player and captain scored 16 goals and made 16 assists in Ligue 1 for PSG this season, and helped the club defend the league title. Few media reports were doing the rounds of the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner’s future with Saudi Arabia or return to Barcelona, but Messi hasn’t confirmed his decision yet.
PSG head coach Christophe Galtier feels proud that he got the opportunity to coach the best football player. He said, “I had the privilege of coaching the best player in the history of football. This will be his last match at the Parc des Princes, and I hope that he will receive the warmest of welcomes.”
Lionel Messi has 21 goals and 20 assists for PSG in all competitions this season, moved to Paris from Barcelona in 2021 on a two-year contract. Galtier added, “This year, he has been an important part of the team, always available. I don’t think any of the comments or criticisms are justified. It has been a great privilege to accompany him throughout the season.”
Sources close to the star football player claim that he had received a formal offer to join the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal next season.
