Importance of Dagdu Seth Halwai Temple
The Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, located in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The temple has a rich history dating back to 1893.
The temple was established by Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai, a sweetmeat seller (halwai) by profession, and his wife, Lakshmibai. They lost their son due to a plague epidemic and were devastated by the tragedy. In order to find solace, they decided to construct a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha.
Dagdusheth Halwai, along with his spiritual guru, Madhavnath Maharaj, selected the location for the temple. The construction of the temple began in 1893 and was completed in 1904.
