Prominent BJP Leaders Sworn In as Lok Sabha MPs
New Delhi: In a significant development, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, and Rajnath Singh took their oaths as Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Lok Sabha on Monday, marking their formal induction into the 18th Lok Sabha.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari were sworn in as Lok Sabha MPs, retaining their seats from Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Gandhinagar (Gujarat), and Nagpur (Maharashtra), respectively.
Prior to the ministers' oath-taking, senior BJP members Radha Mohan Singh and Faggan Singh Kulaste were sworn in to assist the pro-tem Speaker, Bhartruhari Mahtab, in administering oaths to the newly elected MPs over the next two days.
Additionally, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also took their oaths as members of the new Lok Sabha.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by other MPs and key political figures, underscoring the importance of the roles these prominent leaders will play in the upcoming legislative sessions. The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha is expected to be marked by significant opposition activity, with key issues such as the Speaker election and other parliamentary procedures likely to be contentious.
