What to expect from this year's MAMI Mumbai Film Festival

The MAMI (Mumbai Academy of Moving Image) edition is slated to happen in October this year. MAMI will be happening as an in-person event and is committed to showcasing the best of South Asian and international cinema with an intent to promote the upcoming independent filmmakers. The festival wants to build a community for new cinematic voices that would foster the exchange of ideas, collaborations, and business opportunities and at the same time bring the best of world cinema to Mumbai.
Mumbai Film Festival went online during the pandemic and has not taken place as a physical event since October 2019.

MAMI is one of the most anticipated film festivals in India as it attracts talent and cinema enthusiasts worldwide and is looking forward to a lot more films being submitted in the following categories: 1. South Asian Competition 2. South Asian Non- Competition 3. World Cinema

Artistic Director of Jio MAMI Mumbai Festival, Deepti D’ Cunha said, “This year we are expanding our vision of being a film festival focused on discovering Indian films and filmmakers to becoming a film festival that spotlights South Asian talent. We believe there’s some exceptional work being done by South Asian and South Asian Diaspora filmmakers. As a festival, we are honoured to bring this extraordinary talent and films to our audiences in Mumbai. At Jio MAMI, we want to discover fresh South Asian talent and nurture and support the spirit of independent filmmaking. The festival also celebrates the work of established cinema talent, so whether you are an experienced filmmaker or not, we encourage you to submit your work for consideration. We are committed to ensuring a wonderful experience for the filmmakers at the festival, connecting filmmakers with their audiences, and also creating a hub for South Asian filmmakers to make and sustain connections with their peers and form a community.”

Deepti D’Cunha has a wonderful team and they are dedicated make this year's event a huge success. Anupama Bose is the Artistic Director of the Jio MAMI Year-Round Programme. Anu Rangachar is appointed as Head of the International Programme.
