Being blessed with a creative mind and always staying curious is what perfectly describes Gaurav Thakur. He is the founder of Getsetfly Media - Influencer Marketing Company that owns six YouTube channels with several million followers. Gaurav and his team create content on range of topics that focus on scientific self-improvement and knowledge, geopolitics, entrepreneurship. He is on a mission to proclaim scientific thinking and fearlessness among Indians and train people to develop a rational mindset that will support their overall growth.
India’s biggest YouTube content creator and social media influencer, Gaurav Thakur runs YouTube channels like GetsetflySCIENCE, GetsetflyFACT, GetsetflyFLEARN, GetsetflyFUNDA, FactBHAI. He began making Youtube videos from 2017 and today has over 10 million subscribers and gets almost 1 billion views on videos posted. Belonging to a middle-class family, Gaurav went through a transformative phase and has established himself among the top content creators of India. He is very passionate about space and technology, and science (though he doesn’t hold educational degree in science). He has completed his BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies) from Mumbai University.
But all of a sudden, why did Gaurav Thakur change his YouTube channel name?
Gaurav left his high – paying job of Rs 45 K / month at the age of 19. Poor work-life balance, nil personal growth, repetitious routine made him quit the job and focused on getting corporate job by pursuing BMS. Many people believe that closed doors are new opportunities for growth and even our dear friend felt the same. He began to explore the real estate industry, read and write blogs and books, and was on a journey to find true happiness.
Soon Gaurav realised what he needed in life. He wanted Flexibility, Freedom, Autonomy and craved his path to success through following a healthy routine. Gaurav embraced different perspectives, expanded his understanding of the world. He said, “I enabled myself to seize opportunities and explore new paths to fulfilment. I went to the gym, wrote books and created videos to reduce stress, and allowed myself to accept uncertainty. I believe Rejecting a system is much more exciting than accepting it.”
When you are not bound by the system’s regulations, you are capable and free to think outside-the-box and come up with innovative ideas. You figure things out for yourself, learn and grow in ways that you never would have, if you had stayed within the confines of a system. When you are living your life on your own terms, you are more likely to be happy and fulfilled.
What do we do when don’t have an answer to any question? Just Google it out, right… Gaurav believes that the Indian education system with its memorization-method & grade-focused learning has killed our curiosity, range of knowledge and critical thinking. Today, the world thrives on innovation and creativity. But when you look around, hardly does anyone seem curious about scientific principles, history, economic fundamentals. Hence, due to system’s conformity, everyone is academically qualified but not intelligent & poor skilled potential. Gaurav added, “I believe Curiosity is the source of innovation, happiness, and purpose. It helps you excel in life and be ‘Happy’ in the process.”
How do you create exceptional content for 1.5 crore followers / subscribers / audience?
Since most of the content is complex in nature and revolve around physics, cosmology, politics, geopolitics and international relations, economics, business & entrepreneurship etc, many of Gaurav’s subscribers have asked and wonder what is the process he follows to create such deeply researched topics? Gaurav replied, “firstly, I have a team of 12-14 writers at Getsetfly Media. We have researchers who create content for our 7 channels. The team ensures that the topic is well researched, using correct research methodologies because we often create videos on highly sensitive topics.”
To achieve this, a meticulous process has been in place that undergoes before the creation of every video that goes viral. This is the process that goes behind a video:
1) Assign researcher to explore and study the chosen topic comprehensively.
2) The researcher explores into the subject matter from multiple perspectives crafting a script outline. (The more the perspectives listed, the closer objectively we are to the truth).
3) The script outline, along with its factual content, undergoes thorough scrutiny by the team leader to ensure its validity and reliability.
4) Subsequently, a skilled scriptwriter, an expert in storytelling, transforms the script outline into a well-crafted final script.
